Jackie Paling, formerly of Fulthorpe Avenue, Darlington, visited the town as part of a Missing Miles walk to raise money for the National Missing Persons Helpline.
Jackie, who now lives in Dorking, greeted members of the Darlington branch of Soroptimist International. She is a member of the national organisation of professional and business women.
The Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Doris Jones, also met Jackie, who hopes to raise £70,000 by walking from Glasgow to London
