THE RSPCA is in need of volunteers willing to act as "foster parents" to animals until they can be found a permanent home.
The Harrogate and district branch, which includes Ripon, housed a total of 82 cats and kittens last year and most were fostered before being found a permanent home.
Animals are often fostered because they are too young to be rehomed when they are taken into the charity's care or because they are recovering from illness or injury and need time to recuperate.
Branch development officer Peter Bolton said: "Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, and we desperately need more people to join our ranks of carers."
The charity pays out-of-pocket expenses, including the cost of food and veterinary treatment. Anyone willing to help can contact Mr Bolton on (01937) 579827.
