PEOPLE in Middlesbrough who are over the age of 50 are being invited to get into the Wimbledon spirit ahead of the competition.
Middlesbrough Council is running tennis coaching courses at Tennis World, Ladgate Lane. Tennis development officer Diane Harker has places available on a Nifty Fifty coaching course, on Mondays from noon to 1pm, Thursdays from 9am until 10am and Fridays from 10.30am until noon.
Beginners are welcome and participants can pay on a weekly basis. Rackets and balls are provided.
The council is also running a Young Aces Junior Tennis Club 2002 for children aged from eight to 16. Rackets and balls are provided.
Sessions are held in Albert Park, from 6.30pm to 8pm on Mondays, until September 2, and on Saturdays throughout the year from noon to 1.30pm; and at Acklam Sports Centre, Hall Drive, on Thursdays, from 6.30pm to 8pm until September 5.
