A NORTH-EAST entrepreneur is hoping to make the jump from motor racing to the world of music by staging an open-air concert he is billing as a mini-Glastonbury.

Jimmy Wilson-Petch was a prime mover behind the revitalisation of Croft circuit, near Darlington, leaving last year to work on his own series racing E-Type Jaguars around the UK and on the Continent.

However, he is back in the area - and fronting plans for a music festival on Saturday, July 6, in aid of charity.

The concert would be held in a field with a natural slope near Scotch Corner, on the North Yorkshire-County Durham border.

Food, bar, security and car parking arrangements have also been dealt with - all that remains to be confirmed are bands to play at the event.

"We would love to hear from anyone who would like to play to a crowd of around 1,000 people," said Mr Wilson-Petch.

"The event could be a showcase for local talent, with bands playing at a sort of mini-Glastonbury," he said.
