SEVEN years of waiting came to an end for members of Harrogate's Bowls Club when a £220,000 pavilion opened in the town's Valley Gardens at the weekend.
Cash to cover the cost came from the National Lottery, the Sport Foundation and Harrogate Borough Council, with members also raising £55,000.
At Saturday's opening ceremony, president John Simm praised those who had helped with the building and decorating to ensure the complex was ready on time.
The pavilion has a bar and facilities for people with special needs.
"We also have separate changing rooms for ladies and gents. All of this means we can offer a first class venue for our members and, of course, for the many visiting clubs throughout the season," said Mr Simm.
