THE sky was the limit when two Chester-le-Street schools joined forces to mark the jubilee.
Chester-le-Street CE Junior School and South Pelaw Infant School pooled their efforts for a day-long celebration.
It began with a golden jubilee assembly at the junior school on the theme of This Is Your Reign, led by Class 3KS, followed by a competition for the older children to design a commemorative plate.
The children then took part in a jubilee games, which involved 15 teams competing in a variety of challenges, including a penalty shoot-out, hockey, slalom and welly throwing.
Children from both schools enjoyed a jubilee picnic, and then the climax of the celebrations was a grand jubilee balloon release, as each child sent a balloon soaring into the skies over Chester-le-Street, with a prize for the balloon that travels the furthest.
