PLANS to ensure that the North-East's tallest building can be seen for miles around after dark have been unveiled.
Artist Ron Haselden has created a £50,000 system of pink neon lights to illuminate the 18-storey Centre North East, in Middlesbrough.
He hopes the dramatic design will enhance the Teesside skyline and make the building a nocturnal landmark.
Mr Haselden said: "It should be visible from a long way away. It may even be useful to lost pilots.
"It's quite a massive job because you could think of it as being a very large-scale sculpture, but I hope it's going to be up and running within a couple of months."
Centre North East's owner, Marchday, is funding the scheme, along with Northern Arts and the Arts and Business New Partners programme
