A Businessman's horticultural idea is blooming.
Alex Waugh, from Darlington, has found a niche in the market growing, planting and installing hanging baskets.
Commenting on his new venture, Mr Waugh said: "I started this by supplying some friends and acquaintances. One thing led to another and the demand has just grown and grown."
Mr Waugh teamed up with a friend who has a large greenhouse, which provided suitable storage space where the hanging baskets can be nurtured until they are ready for fitting.
At the moment, because of the morning frosts the greenhouse is bursting with baskets ready for installation at customers' homes.
With prices starting from £15, including supply of the bracket and basket and fitting with a full written list of instructions, Mr Waugh believed his new service will enhance many homes and businesses.
Darlington Business Venture, the local enterprise agency involved in providing free advice and support for fledgling entrepreneurs, is supporting Mr Waugh into business. He can be contacted on (01325) 382519, or 07866 599662.
