POLICE have congratulated pop fans after only 12 people out of 80,000 were arrested at Europe's biggest free festival.
The three-day Orange Window on the World festival, was held in North Shields, North Tyneside, over the Jubilee Bank Holiday.
Nearly half a million people attended the event, headlined by Pop Idol Zoe Birkett. She was joined other acts including former Boomtown Rat Bob Geldof, Artful Dodger and Dario G.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "This year's festival has been a great success, with high attendance despite the poor weather on Sunday.
"On Bank Holiday Monday, in excess of 80,000 people attended the event with just 12 arrests being made for low-level disorder and drunkenness offences."
The festival closed on Monday with the lighting of a jubilee beacon and a fireworks display.
