ONE small County Durham community had as good a time to rival any in the region yesterday - and residents also provided a tonic for a local hospital.
Alison Adamson, organiser of a street party in Hazelwood Court, Langley Park, said: "We saw the thunderstorms the night before and thought oh no, all that hard work for nothing.
"So when it turned out fine everyone was overjoyed. It really was something and we even managed to hand over £340 we had left over for the neo-natal unit at the new Durham hospital.
"I'm sure the jubilee has been huge everywhere. We got the commemorative medals and mugs but really struggled for them. None of the shops had been anticipating the big demand."
