A tombola stall at Shildon Continental Market run by staff from the Bishop Auckland store at the weekend raised £212.60 for the Butterwick Hospice.

WHEELS STOLEN: Four alloy wheels, worth £600, were stolen from a Ford Puma on a garage forecourt at Horndale Avenue, Newton Aycliffe, early on Tuesday.

RADIO THEFT: A JVC car stereo radio and compact disc player and five discs, worth a total of £215, were stolen from a Rover Metro in Wood Lane, Ferryhill, between 10.30pm on Monday and 9am on Tuesday.

BOOT SALE: A car boot sale is being held at the Weardale Inn, Ireshopeburn, Weardale, on Sunday, from noon.

PARTY TIME: Children under seven can join a teddy bears' picnic at Jubilee Fields Community Centre, Shildon, today, to celebrate the Queen's golden jubilee. A party for older children will be held at the centre tonight.
