Keith Hewson and Adam Maddison wrote their names into the record books when they both claimed hat-tricks for Peterlee on the same day.
Hewson, in his fourth season as professional for the Boddingtons Durham Coast League side, claimed his three wickets with successive balls in the first team game at Houghton.
"I was over the moon when I knocked over the third wicket. It was the first time I had taken a hat-trick and I have been playing since I was kid," exclaimed 35-year old Hewson.
He started with his home town club Norton and also played for Billingham Synthonia before spending six years in Yorkshire. He bowls medium pace and has always considered himself more of a batsman than a bowler.
"I think it is true to say that my bowling has improved. I have bowled more overs with Peterlee and perhaps I am now considered an all-rounder after my feat at Houghton," Hewson added.
Adam Maddison is just 17 and he took his hat-trick in the reverse fixture against Houghton II at Peterlee. After captaining both the under-13 and under-15 teams, Adam is in his second year with the under-18s and is also firmly established in the Peterlee Second XI.
"I have been playing since I was 12 and bowl right-arm medium pace. It was a tremendous thrill to take the hat-trick and I hope that I will repeat the performance in the not too distance future," said Adam who lives just outside the Peterlee ground.
