POLICE are hoping one of 80 friends and acquaintances of murdered Syd Baldwin will hold a vital clue to the crime.
Mr Baldwin, 44, of Heaton, Newcastle, was found battered to death in his home on Tuesday, May 21. Since then, Northumbria Police have traced 80 associates and are urging them to get in contact.
Detective Superintendent Ian Sharp said yesterday: "We're still trying to build up a picture of Mr Baldwin's lifestyle. We know he stayed mostly in the area of the Chillingham Arms pub, Balmoral Terrace and his home, but he also visited pubs and bookmakers in Newcastle city centre, and pubs in Low Fell."
Anyone with information can contact police on 0191-221 9787.
