A NEW community of neighbours got together on Monday to sing, dance and have a tipple or two in honour of the Queen.
Dozens of neighbours at Alpine Court, a new street off Merry Road in Chester-le-Street, got together as a community for the very first time.
Organiser Elsie Handley, also a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, said: "I'm really, really pleased.
"Everyone's come up to me and said what a good time they've had and should we do it again.
"It's really been good fun with everyone from little children to people in their eighties having a good laugh together."
Alpine Court is a mixed cul-de-sac development of houses, flats and OAP bungalows.
