TWO nursery nurses have turned artists to transform their premises with murals.
Despite having no formal art training, Kyra McKenry and Sharon Gray set about sprucing up the new £500,000 luxury Ashfield Nursery and Early Learning Centre, in Low Fell, Gateshead, where they work.
Their achievement in creating colourful wall murals followed their recent promotions.
Ms McKenry, of Low Fell, and Ms Gray, of Chester-le-Street, were appointed deputy managers of the nursery less than six months after they both became senior nursery nurses.
They are studying for their NVQ level four in nursery management qualifications.
Nursery manager Michelle Cawley said: "Kyra and Sharon are hitting the headlines with their display of artistic talent, but it is their professional skill with the children which has won them promotion.
