HUNDREDS of youngsters will tackle crucial animal welfare issues next week, as part of an RSPCA initiative.
The society's officers will be visiting schools throughout the North-East and Yorkshire, to give talks and host activities ranging from designing homes for caged pets to producing a radio advertisement encouraging an animal-friendly summer.
Chris Holmes, regional education advisor, said: "RSPCA education week is a celebration of the excellent work that is being done in schools, in partnership with the society.
"It reflects the commitment of teachers and young people to the prevention of cruelty to animals through innovative learning programmes, and is something they can take out into the wider community."
