SOPHISTICATED pop star Sophie Ellis Bextor is the latest to sign up for a North-East concert.
Ms Ellis Bextor, whose hits include Murder on the Dancefloor, Take Me Home and her Number 1 with Spiller, Groovejet (If This Ain't Love), will perform in the Galaxy radio's Out There concert at Gateshead International Stadium, on Saturday, June 29.
The announcement follows news of other top acts agreeing to appear in the show. They include Mis-teeq, Blue, the Sugababes, Kosheen, Liberty X, Ian Van Dahl and Mousse T.
Ms Ellis Bextor shot to fame in summer 2000 when she added her distinctive vocals to Spiller's Groovejet (If This Ain't Love).
Now, aged 22, she has already established herself as a star.
Galaxy managing director Martyn Healy said: "Sophie is one of the biggest names in dance. It will be a rare chance for the Out There audience to experience her live. The crowd will love her."
The concert will also provide the first chance for people to see new Hear'Say member Johnny Shentall perform live.
All proceeds will go to The Prince's Trust to support young people throughout the North-East. Tickets, priced £17.50 plus a booking fee, are available from the Galaxy website at www.galaxy1056. co.uk, the booking line on 0870 730 7305, and at HMV and Nexus outlets across the North-East.
