THE dark days of the Second World War were recalled at a special display at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington, near York.
Despite the museum's name, the action this time was firmly on the ground. The spirit of D-Day was rekindled with a spectacular display of about 110 military vehicles, including tanks, armoured cars and Jeeps. Among those taking part was John Jenkinson, above, of Clifton, York, who is a member of the Military Vehicle Trust. More than 1,500 people attended the event. The museum's operations manager, Iain Dewar, said: "People came from all over the country, including Cornwall and Suffolk. We were very pleased with the turnout."
