Spotlight falls on antiques
Yarm Fellowship Committee will present an antiques evening on Friday at its West Street Hall, at 7.30pm. The event features Ken Snowdon, who will give a talk on furniture restoration. Visitors can take along one item for valuation by Ruby Snowdon and Barbara Huebner. Tickets cost £3.50, and include refreshments. GOOD NEIGHBOURS: Yarm and Eaglescliffe Good Neighbours Scheme is an ecumenical initiative which was launched this year. It is run from the Methodist Church, in Yarm, and offers home visits to the elderly, as well as lifts to hospital or other local destinations for elderly people who do not have other means of support and transport. The service, which has a rota of volunteers from churches in the area, is available to all residents in Yarm and Eaglescliffe. VINTAGE CARS: The annual fire engine and vintage car rally at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30. The event attracts thousands of people. Last year, there were more than 450 vehicles and exhibits on display. Would-be stallholders, craftspeople and exhibitors should contact Stockton Borough Council as soon as possible on (01642) 358539.
EMBROIDERY EXHIBITION: An exhibition of embroidery celebrating flowers will be held at Egglescliffe Parish Church on Saturday, June 22, from 10am to 5pm, continuing the following day from 2pm till 5pm. The embroidery has been done by Greta Hodgson, of Barnard Castle. Tea will be available in the parish hall. On Friday, June 21, there is a preview evening at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3, include a glass of wine and refreshments, and are available by contacting (01542) 780185. There will also be a display of flowers in the church to complement the exhibition.
WOODWIND CONCERT: Darlington Clarinet Ensemble will give a concert of music for a summer's evening in the parish church at Egglescliffe, on Saturday, June 22. Tickets, priced £4, are available by contacting (01642) 780185. The price includes a glass of wine and refreshments.
