WESLEY DATE: As part of the 250th anniversary of Methodist founder John Wesley's first visit to Weardale, a celebrity concert is being held at High House Chapel, Ireshopeburn, on Saturday, at 7.30pm.
It will feature the Gibside Singers, from Gateshead, and the Newcastle Male Chorus. Tickets are available from St John's Chapel post office or High House Chapel members.
CHURCH FESTIVAL: The Reverend Philip Greenhalgh will conduct a festival evensong, featuring Crook and Weardale Singers, at St Thomas' Church, Stanhope, next Tuesday, at 7.30pm.
TEA TIME: A strawberry tea to help raise funds for the churchyard fund is being held at the Barrington Hall, St John's Chapel, on Wednesday, June 19, at 3pm. Admission is £3.
GARDEN FETE: Botanist Dr David Bellamy will open a garden fete in aid of the Stanhope and Weardale Multiple Sclerosis Society branch at Ashes House, Crawleyside, on July 6, at 2pm.
CHARITY NIGHT: A charity race night is being held at Wolsingham Workingmen's Club on Friday, June 28, in aid of the Butterwick children's hospice. There will be a raffle, disco and topless barmaids and the first race is at 7.45pm. Tickets are available from Anita Savoury, Nigel Percival or John Henderson.
