SPORT students from Darlington encouraged younger children to get active at a sports day yesterday.
Dozens of infant school children took part in a series of sporting events organised by students from Darlington College of Technology.
Children from Heathfields, Firthmoor, Mowden and St John Infant Schools were involved in the event at the Eastbourne Sports Complex and spent the morning supervised by students from Darlington College of Technology's sports and leisure department.
Among the fun activities were a relay race, football, long jump and tennis ball throwing competitions.
Andy Grant, sports and leisure senior tutor, said: "The sports day is important for the college students because part of their course criteria is to organise and manage an event like this.
