YOUNG artists in Darlington have been taking part in a competition with a Royal theme.
Darlington Lions Club organised a Queen's golden jubilee art competition for school pupils to mark the special event.
Children submitted artwork with a jubilee theme, and an exhibition of the entries was mounted at St Cuthbert's Church Hall at the beginning of the month.
Judges included artist Nicky Corker, Darlington Mayor Doris Jones and editor of The Northern Echo, Peter Barron.
Winners were:
Top junior section: 1 Aaron Clarkson, St Teresa's School; 2 Eleanor Storey, Abbey Junior School; 3 Danielle Lowcock, Abbey Juniors.
Lower junior section: 1 Charlotte Forster, St Teresa's; 2 Sophie Herring, Abbey; 3 Beth Meredith, St Teresa's.
Infant section: 1 Lori Lowson, Alderman Leach School; 2 Bethan Adair, Abbey Infant School; joint 3 Charlotte Forster, Abbey, and Ally Shields, Skerne Park School.
