PLANS to build a new freight warehouse at Teesside Airport, bringing 28 new jobs to the area, have been approved by borough councillors.
LV Shipping, which has its origins in Holland, intends to build the warehouse and offices on a 2.7-acre site opposite Cleveland Motor Homes.
The company specialises in freight forwarding for leading oil companies.
Despite an objection from the owner of the neighbouring Lancaster House, the council's planning committee unanimously approved the proposal on Wednesday.
The house owner's son-in-law said he felt her concerns about increased noise and intrusion had not been taken into consideration.
The airport withdrew its previous objection to the proposals.
In his report to the committee, planning officer Adrian Miller said: "The application represents a significant investment at Teesside Airport, which is to be welcomed.
"The project is the largest development in recent years, further enhancing the expansion and growth of the airport.
"Officers have noted the objections raised but do not consider that any of the matters are significant enough to warrant the refusal of planning permission."
In proposing approval of the development, Coun John Williams said: "The airport is growing and we want it to grow and be successful. This is a quality organisation that is going to bring 28 new jobs."
