A PUB that promotes traditional beer has earned a top title.
Durham's Woodman Inn has become a haven for traditionally-brewed beers and has attracted local members of the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).
Run by Peter and Mary Collins, the Gilesgate pub has won the Durham and District Camra branch Pub of the Year title.
Branch chairman Ken Weaver presented the award, in the form of a beer tap trophy and certificate, at a celebration evening.
Mr Weaver said of The Woodman: "It's really got all the attributes that we're looking for in our perfect pub. There's a good friendly atmosphere, good beer quality and a brilliant choice.
Mr Collins said: "I'm gobsmacked we got it. It's always gone to a pub that's made dramatic changes, yet we've just really kept on doing what we've always set out to do.
"We don't serve food and we have nothing going for us other than our good, friendly staff, and our fabulous customers.
"Holding the beer festivals has helped, by bringing in people for the first time."
The pub now goes forward as the branch's nomination for the regional Pub of the Year title, to be decided at the end of the month.
