Staff at the Asda store in Stockton raised more than £1,000 for the Red Cross when they took part in a charity karting night at Durham Karting Centre. They competed against teams from Barclays Bank and Somerfield.

ORGANISERS JUBILANT: Two days of family activities organised by Guisborough Town Pride at Gisborough Priory to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee, had been expected to attract more than 1,000 people but more than 2,500 joined in the fun.
ORIENTAL THEME: First year travel and tourism course students at the Redcar and Cleveland College, Redcar, designed and organised stalls exploring the Chinese cultural difference of traditional dress, language and food and astrology. Lecturer Suzanne Taylor said the event generated considerable interest in the course and raised money for the languages and learning support department through a small entrance fee.
BISHOP'S BLESSING: The Right Reverend Robert Ladds, Bishop of Whitby, will license Dennis Teasdale as a Reader at Guisborough Parish Church at a choral evensong on Sunday.
SHORE LESSONS: Saltburn, Marske and New Marske Parish Council has donated £1,000 to the educational area provided in the multi-purpose sea front building on Saltburn foreshore.
RICH TAPESTRY: Cleveland Craft Centre, Middlesbrough, is presenting an exhibition of tapestries acquired over the past 30 years. Expert Dot Seddon will lead a two-day tapestry workshop at the centre in Gilkes Street, later this month.
PARK FUN: Boating, putting and half-price tennis are on the agenda for the Friends of Locke Park family gala in the park day today. There will also be face painting, a bouncy castle and stalls.
