Worthington Durham County CIU Summer League
Brandon maintained their unbeaten record to stay in third place in the First Division but had to fight back in their home game against Willington. Tom Parkin put Willington ahead but Colin Goodrick levelled. Stan Bennett restored the visitors' lead but Kevin Sample again equalised. In the decider, Brandon's Graeme Jackson beat Jeremy Martin.
Wheatley Hill A were pulled down to share the third spot with Brandon after they went down in the decider in their home match against Spennymoor A. The Moors went two up through Karl Welsh and Paul Biddle. However Ronnie Peacock and Alan Hall raised the Hill's hopes by winning the next two frames. In the decider the Moors Paul Atkinson beat Dennis Clish.
Fishburn A stayed in the top spot after they only dropped one point to the visiting Ferryhill, who had Ian Fawcett as their only winner. The home side had wins from John Griffin, Charlie Hirst, Brian Quest with a 35 break and Wayne Oliver.
Old Shildon stayed just one point behind Fishburn A when they only dropped one point to the visiting Witton Gilbert. Andrew Aisbitt put Old Shildon ahead with Ian Renwick levelling. However the home side took over from that point with wins from Billy Goggins, Michael Pratt with a 40 break and Steve Bennett with a 34 break.
Newton Aycliffe failed to break their duck for the season when they went down by the odd point to the visiting Shotton Palms. John Briddick and Marc Howe won for the home side but Jimmy Evans junior, Paul Hickman and Jimmy Evans senior saw the Palms to victory.
The top two teams in the Second Division met at Crook Belle Vue with the visiting Newhouse moving up to share top spot with their hosts following an odd point victory. Arnold Fleming put the home side ahead but them Jimmy Hennessy and Steve Mountain moved Newhouse ahead. John Warriner squared the match but John Maddox put in a 58 break, the best in the Second Division this season, to beat Crook captain, Ken Rider.
Langley Park moved a point behind the joint leaders of the Second Division after they only dropped one point at Stanley Central, who had Jim Dufton as their point scorer with a 41 break.
Spennymoor B moved up to share Langley Park's position after they whitewashed the visiting Fishburn B with wins from Alan Rowell, Kevin Riley, Phil Wilson, Wayne Parry and Alan Clark.
Steve Cave and Ken Johnson put Wheatley Hill B two ahead at Durham City but Malcolm Anderson and Gary Ward levelled the match. In the decider Durham's Michael Pratt put in a 31 break to beat Dave Blyth.
Sherburn Village were never ahead at Meadowfield until they came through in the decider. Stephen Hughes put the home side ahead with Peter McGowan equalising. Glen Morton with a 30 break restored the home lead only to see Alan Greener level. In the decider Sherburn's John Bower beat Malcolm Hughes by two points after taking the deciding black.
In the Third Division the leading Wingate went down to their first defeat when they visited Sacriston. Geoff Howe put the visitors ahead but then Jeff Evans and Mark Brown moved Sacriston in front. Joe Hennessey levelled the match but Sacriston went to victory when Willy Nixon beat Alan Tupling in the decider.
Crowtrees moved into second place when they sent their hosts, New Durham down to their second defeat of their first season. Tony Thompson and terry Patterson took points for new Durham with Sonny Hann, Sean Johnston and Keith McLauchlan taking Crowtrees to victory.
Hunwick failed to move from the bottom spot in the Third Division when they went down in the decider at Leeholme A. Neville Blenkinsopp and Trevor Lomax won for Hunwick with Anthony Forster and David Fletcher levelling. In the decider Tony Clish beat Barrie Fleming.
At Tow Law, Coundon had wins from Gary Goulbourne and Dennis Payne with the Lawyers replying through Tommy Williams and Charlie Donaghy. In the decider Michael Ryder took Coundon to victory by beating Doug Watson.

Durham Association
Barnard Castle Glaxo made a good home win over Tindale Crescent Club when Paul Gaffney put them ahead. Harry Sample levelled for the Club but Terry Aitkin restored Glaxo's lead. In the final frame Phil grove took the home side to victory when he beat Terry Armstrong.
Harrowgate Hill suffered a home whitewash defeat at the hands of Darlington Snooker Club A, who replace the Hill at the top of the First Division. Hopetown are only a point behind with a match in hand, whilst Darlington Railway Institute are a further point adrift but have two matches in hand.
Darlington Snooker Club C went two points clear at the top of Division Two with Riley's and Elm Road sharing second place, one point ahead of Old Shildon.

Worthington CIU Winter League Presentations
The Annual Presentation Evening was held at Spennymoor Club when the trophies were handed out by Terry Watson, the Durham Branch CIU Vice-President and John Mattimoe, a member of the CIU Executive Committee. The League Championship was won by Old Shildon with Wheatley Hill A in second place. The Second Division was won by Sherburn Village after a play off with Meadowfield. The Third Division was won by Bearpark with West Auckland the runners-up. Willington won the team Knock Out with Fishburn B in second place. Old Shildon won the Team Plate with Belmont taking the runners-up awards.
Dave Walker of Wheatley Hill won the Singles Championship and was joined by Alan Hall to take the Pairs Championship. Michael Pratt of Old Shildon was the Singles runner-up, whilst George Whitelock and Wayne Oliver of Fishburn were the Pairs runners-up.
In the final of the Curry Cup, Michael Pratt of Old Shildon beat Andrew Aisbitt of Cockton Hill, whilst Dean Bryden of Wheatley Hill won the Handicap Singles when he beat Kevin Sample of Brandon in the Final.
The Billiards Championship was won by Jimmy Evans of Shotton Palms with Tom Ward of Hunwick the runner-up.
The Most Wins in Division One went to Paul Biddle of Spennymoor; in the Second Division to Paul Atkinson of Hunwick; in the Third Division to Andrew Sugden of West Auckland.
The Top Break in the First Division was 97 by Andrew Aisbitt of Cockton Hill; in the Second Division 71 by Paul Atkinson of Hunwick; in the Third Division 59 by Frank Nicholson of Coundon.
