PUPILS at a Stockton school are enjoying the fruits of their success in a new horticultural course.
The course has been designed for Key Stage Four pupils at Blakeston School and youngsters grow their own vegetables, flowers and shrubs in a poly tunnel at Brookfield Farm.
The 30 youngsters involved in the scheme supply the school with flowers and shrubs, and sell the excess to staff, pupils and parents as a mini business enterprise.
Tony Hutton, deputy headteacher at the school, said: "This is a very much hands on course and the co-operation of Colin and Margaret Leighton, of Brookfield Farm, has been paramount to the success of this project.
"Colin Leighton is the grounds maintenance contractor for Blakeston and his knowledge and assistance has been very beneficial in our success."
The pioneering project has been staffed by both Mr Hutton and science teacher Dave McCartney.
