A POIGNANT church service has been held to give thanks for the life of a murder victim.

Petite mother-of-two Liz Jennison was found murdered after predicting her own death.

The cleaner's body was discovered in her blood-covered bedroom by firefighters investigating a blaze at her home in Redcar, east Cleveland, ten years ago today. She had been stabbed to death.

A neighbour who broke a window after spotting the flames drew back when he saw the kitchen covered in blood.

About 25 members of the 40-year-old's family attended a church service for her in Middlesbrough, yesterday.

Her brother, Stuart Beedle, said: "I got up and said a few words about what a good person she had been, how she was a treasure to the family and the way she looked after my parents. I also said how Liz would not have wanted it to be a sad occasion."

Mr Beedle paid tribute to the way Canon David Hodgson conducted the service at the Church of Ascension, Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough.

Colin Jennison admitted the manslaughter of his common law wife by reason of diminished responsibility in March 1993.

He only served 12 months after his barrister claimed he had a one in three chance of dying within five years from cancer. Mr Jennison still lives.
