A NEWLY-formed theatre group is staging its first production this weekend.
React, which is made up of Durham University students, will perform Saved, by Edward Bond, in the Fonteyn Ballroom, in Durham Students' Union, tonight at 8.30pm, and tomorrow at 2.30pm and 8.30pm.
Based on the theme of cultural poverty, and telling the story of young people living on a council estate, it has been updated to appeal to a modern audience. The play is being performed by students from all years.
Co-director Stephanie Smith, 19, said: "React is dedicated to putting on plays dealing with fundamental human issues, and we aim to take theatre to places like hospitals and prisons."
Tickets are priced at £3.50 for Durham student theatre card holders and £4 for others, and are available on the door
