After being bowled out for a meagre 30 runs in the Kerridge Cup at Acklam Park on Thursday night, Northallerton will not relish the prospect of meeting Middlesbrough again this afternoon.

Even though they will have a stronger side on duty - including Gerry Hall, who makes his seasonal debut - the odds are stacked against them.

Hall previously played for Northallerton, but has been missing for the last couple of seasons, working abroad. Skipper Ian Gill will be hoping that he can add some backbone and stability to the batting line-up which collapsed unceremoniously. Another batsman, Ian Place, is unavailable.

Mattie Brown was Boro's hero in the Cup match when he claimed eight wickets for a miserly ten runs in 12 overs, including seven maidens. With James Beaumont away, skipper Danny Evans has Brett Roberts to fill the vacancy.

Leaders Guisborough will be happy if Graham Shaw repeats the form he displayed in their Kerridge Cup win over Billingham Synthonia when he carried his bat for 68 in a match-winning partnership with Gary Bolton.

Redcar, in sixth position, provide the opposition and they too have a play-maker in Sri Lankan Dulip Samaraweera.

Guisborough are at full strength and Redcar make one change, preferring Adam Law to Ollie Rogers. Law hit a half century and took two wickets for the second team last weekend.

Saltburn, just five points adrift of Guisborough, are in good form and they romped home in the Kerridge Cup, defeating Blackhall by more than 50 runs.

They host Richmondshire and more of the same from the Rashid brothers Mauhtashim and Umer could spell problems for Clive Layfield's side.

A double blow to Richmond is the unavailability of Ben Biker and Andrew Mollitt. Jamie Stead, who has shown good form batting in the second team, is given his chance.

Blackhall are third top and they need to defeat Marske to keep the pressure on the leading pair. Their chances are enhanced with the availability of Paul Moss and Mark Cushlow, who take over from David Mole and young David Brown.

Marske name an unchanged side and they are pleased that they now have more strength in depth with a number of players making themselves available after completing exams.

The Seasiders' form has improved with the signing of Mohamed Fazal whose unbeaten half century and four wickets were crucial to his side's victory over Darlington on Thursday.

Bottom-of-the-table Wolviston face another difficult test against Darlington at Feethams. Darlington name the same side which played last Saturday as they aim to improve on their fourth-from-top rating and erase the memory of their defeat at the hands of Marske.

Normanby Hall ring the changes for their game with Hartlepool at Park Drive. Youngster Mel Sykes makes his debut and also included are Dave Austin, Mark Lane, Paul Gettings, Graham Addison, and Lee Sykes.

Leaving the first team for various reasons are Graham Robinson, Andy Harrow, Brian Leech, Joe Bell, Javed Ramzan and Geoff Robinson, who will resume his duties as second-team captain.

Hartlepool keep alterations to a minimum with Martin Johnson for Ian Palmer their only switch. Pool, in the bottom half of the table, will take encouragement from their win over Darlington RA when Gary Tebbett and captain John Cannon both produced form with the bat.

Thornaby are at Brinkburn Road for their match with Darlington RA but cannot call upon Matt Dex or Ian Still. The pair are replaced by Lee Gibson and Robin Bailey.

There is a double programme for Division One clubs and third-top Great Ayton meet Yarm twice. John Doyle senior has an injured calf and is replace by Glen Mudd for the double programme
