DURHAM students are helping a charity to raise awareness of its work.
The Dyspraxia Foundation County Durham (DFCD) aims to promote greater understanding of the condition - an impairment or immunity in the organisation of movement - that affects one in 20 children.
One of the main aims of the group is to raise awareness of dyspraxia among the general population. To help its work, the charity has been given £260 by the Durham University Charities Kommittee (Duck).
The foundation was one of several groups and charities that shared in more than £80,000 raised by students.
The co-ordinator of the foundation, Tina Wilson, said: "This grant will enable DFCD to place a free copy of Praxis Makes Perfect II, a manual on dyspraxia, in all County Durham's 40 branch libraries.
"The benefits of this will be that anyone interested in finding out more about Dyspraxia will be able to do so at their local library. Well done Duck for making this possible."
Anyone wanting to know more about the work of the Dyspraxia Foundation County Durham can attend its annual meeting, which is being held on Tuesday, July 9, at 7pm, in room five at Belmont Comprehensive School, Durham City.
Alternatively, contact Mrs Wilson on 0191-384 8283.
