A pregnant woman was jailed yesterday after admitting trying to smuggle heroin into her boyfriend's police station cell.
Lisa Steel, 22, is due to give birth in weeks but was jailed for three months yesterday.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that she was caught taking the drug, hidden inside a Polo packet, to her former partner when he was locked up at Whickham police station on October 29 last year. She admitted knowing that the packet contained a wrap of heroin.
