THE first winners of the annual Darlington Active Independent Staying Young (Daisy) competitions in Darlington have been announced.

Darlington Borough Council launched Daisy to encourage people over-50 to join in activities in the community.

Throughout June, competitions are being held to introduce elderly people to the facilities available. The Northern Echo is supporting the campaign, which finishes on July 4 with a musical event in the Market Square.
