THE search is on for budding performers to steal the limelight in Hartlepool.
A total of 40 volunteers are needed to take part in an exciting stage performance involving drama and music early next year.
The main aim of the project is to bring together young people and older people and help them explore the magic of the performing arts, while building their self-confidence and broadening their horizons.
It is still very much in the planning stage, but participants will be able to find out how modern music and the sounds of the 1940s and 1950s overlap and can complement each other.
They will get a chance to try musical instruments and also experience other types of music.
The event will come together through a series of weekly workshops at Grange Road Methodist Church Resource Centre, starting at the beginning of July and running through to mid-February.
There will be four different workshop groups. Two will be for the over 50s, one of which will cover drama and the other music, and two similar groups for people aged 11 to 16. The four groups will later merge into two groups, and then eventually form one large performing group.
The project is open to people across Hartlepool. No previous experience is necessary.
