Road closure: Part of Sussex Street, Bedale, is to be closed from Wednesday until Sunday, June 23, while a water main is repaired. Although the order is effective for five days, the work is likely to be completed in one day.
pitching in: A football ground in Ampleforth has been transformed into a Millennium Green by 60 offenders and residents to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee. Sir David Goodall, former British High Commissioner in India, opened the green. The football club has a new pitch nearby.
Forum move: North Yorkshire Forum for Voluntary Organisations is moving to larger premises at Alanbrooke industrial park, Topcliffe, near Thirsk. Chief officer Neil Irving said the group had outgrown its previous base at Carlton Miniott. The new telephone number is (01845) 578228
