AMATEUR golfers and racing pundits can help raise money to send a four-year-old girl with a chronic eating disorder to America for treatment.
Friends of Annie Jones' family have organised the fundraising events to help the youngster, who suffers from infantile anorexia, receive treatment at an American clinic that specialises in children's eating disorders.
Annie's family, from Normanby, Middlesbrough, needs up to £80,000 for a six to eight week programme of treatment at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, in Baltimore, near Washington DC.
Her condition means Annie, who hasn't eaten a meal for three years, has to be fed through a drip overnight.
Medical experts say the problem is mainly psychological, brought on in Annie's case after she failed to adjust to eating solids when about 13 months old.
Now, supporters have organised a race night in the Norman Conquest pub, in Normanby, on Saturday, June 29, and a charity golf tournament at Hunley Hall, Saltburn, on Wednesday, July 31.
Organised by Les Allen, landlord of The Normanby pub, next month's golf event could raise up to £1,000 for Annie's fund.
It costs £120 per team to enter, at £30 per player, and up to 25 teams can take part on the day.
The entry price includes a full round on the 18-hole course, breakfast, dinner and an evening meal.
Mr Allen said: "Lots of people have donated many and varied prizes for the winners and we are hoping to get each hole sponsored by a local company.
"We are also looking into the possibility of having a new car up for grabs for a hole-in-one."
Anyone wanting to make a donation can send a donation to the Annie Jones Fund, Les Allen, 3 Lime Crescent, Normanby, TS6 0BU.
