A COLLEGE has received a hat-trick of awards for health and safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The awards recognise Darlington College of Technology's achievement in developing health and safety culture, having effective management systems and an excellent health and safety record.

It is the third successive RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety award for the college. All students take a health and safety module as part of their course and staff receive health and safety awareness training.

The health and safety management systems underpinning the college's success are available to everyone through a manual and via the college's Internet website.

College health and safety advisor Ian Bradley said: "Accident statistics have fallen year-on-year for the past four years, and we are extremely proud that students, staff and management have all contributed to our excellent record. RoSPA has recognised our efforts and we have progressed from a merit award to our third successive gold award."
