Durham Community Association in North Road, Durham, celebrated the Royal Golden Jubilee at the weekend with the help of a £1,300 award from the National Lottery Awards for All programme. The event included a jubilee quilt workshop, a display by the Durham Cygnets, line dance and a display by the Middle East Dance Group.
SUMMER FAIR: Neville's Cross Primary School's Parent-Teacher Association is holding a summer fair on the school field on Saturday, from 1pm to 4pm. Attractions will include hook a duck, face painting, a balloon race, a virtual treasure hunt and stalls.
SCHOOL REUNION: A reunion for anyone who left St Leonard's RC Comprehensive School between 1975 and 1985 is to be held at Durham Rugby Club on Saturday. Tickets, costing £2.50, are available from Karen Dawson (nee Stockdale) on 0191-389 4199.
PLAYERS NEEDED: The Chester-le-Street Riverside under-12s football team is looking for players for the new season, starting in September, when the side will be playing at under-13 level in the Russell Foster League premier division. JUBILEE CONCERT: Pupils from St Godric's RC Primary School, Framwellgate Moor, are taking part in a summer jubilee concert at Durham's Gala Theatre, on July 4. Tickets, priced £2 for adults and £1 for children, are available on 0191-383 0580.
LOOKING BACK: Seaton Holme Hall, at Easington Village, is to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee with an exhibition called The Way We Were, which looks back at life in the 1950s. It will run from Friday to Sunday. Admission is free.
RACE NIGHT: Bowburn Play Area Regeneration Committee is holding a race night in the Cooperage, Bowburn, on Saturday, to pay for a new play area. Admission is free, and the first race will be at 7.30pm.
Folk date: A singers and musicians night will be held at the Wayfarer Folk Club, Front Street, Haswell, east Durham, at 8.30pm on Friday. Admission is free.
EXHIBITS plea: Annfield Plain Gleemen are preparing for a centenary exhibition and want old photographs or memoribilia from the past 100 years. The choir, known as the New Kyo Warblers, was formed in 1903. Anyone able to help can contact Jack Thompson on (01207) 234017.
CATHEDRAL datE: Durham St John Ambulance members attended a service of re-dedication at Durham Cathedral yesterday. The event was followed by a presentation of service medals and awards.
MONEY RAISED: Caledonia International Wallcoverings, of Peterlee, has raised £1,500 for a charity which supports Downs Syndrome children in Romania. The charity has funded the renovation of an old school building, as well as sponsoring two Romanian nurses to take care of the children
