CARERS looking after the needs of mental health patients across County Durham were given the chance to attend a special information day organised by a support group.
As part of National Carers Week, those who tend for family members suffering from mental disorders were invited to the Pierremont Unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital to meet fellow carers.
Pat Thompson, carer support worker with the group, said the event, which was organised with the support of County Durham and Darlington Priority Services NHS Trust, was meant to give carers a chance to find out more about the group, as well as to make contact with each other.
She said: "We try to help and support carers and let them know we are there for them and that there are other people in the same position. It is important that people know we are here."
The event featured a variety of information stands, opportunities to meet people and relaxation sessions. For those who want to join, the group can be contacted on (01325) 357533.
