A SCHEME encouraging residents to explore their park has proved so successful that it is being extended.
During the recent National History Week, Gateshead Borough Council organised free guided strolls around Saltwell Park.
They proved so popular, that the council has arranged extra walks for July.
Once again, they will be led by Saltwell Park's manager, Steve Palmer, who will provide expert information on the Victorian park's history and future.
The park is currently undergoing a £9.6m restoration, funded by the region's largest Heritage Lottery grant.
Walks are taking place on Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 23, at 6pm. They are free, but should be pre-booked by ringing the Tourist Information Centre at Gateshead Central Library on 0191-477 3478
