Newcastle United last night confirmed they will provide Quakers' first Feethams friendly opposition for six years.
However, the Magpies will only be sending a reserve side as their first team will be in Holland to play four friendlies against non-League sides.
Because of problems with the playing surface, Darlington have not played a pre-season game at Feethams since the summer of 1996 when Barnsley were the opposition.
No ticketing arrangements have yet been announced for the game which will be on July 19, kicking off at 7pm.
Quakers' only other pre-season game at Feethams is a warm up match versus Second Division Huddersfield Town on August 2 (7.30pm).
