FERTILIZER company Terra's health and safety manager Kishore Shah has been awarded an MBE for his contribution to safety.
Throughout his 32-year career with ICI and Terra on Teesside, Mr Shah has specialised in the safe manufacture and distribution of fertilizer and various hazardous chemicals.
As a recognised world expert in fertilizer safety, Mr Shah has published several technical papers and articles in international publications and is an active member of the Chemical Industries Association's Safety Advisory Group and a council member of the International Fertilizer Society.
Mr Shah said: "I was pleasantly surprised when I received notification that I had been selected to receive an MBE. It's an honour, not only for me, but for Terra Teesside as well."
Paul Thompson, managing director of Terra, said: "I am delighted that Kish has been recognised with an MBE.
"Not only has he made a huge contribution to Terra and ICI over the years, he is well recognised as having made a huge contribution to fertilizer safety across the world."
The father-of-three is a past president of the Indian Association, and is serving secretary of the Hindu Cultural Society of Cleveland.
