Darlington College of Technology has received its third successive Gold Occupational Health and Safety award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) after winning merit and gold accolades.
The award recognises the college's efforts in developing a strong health and safety culture, and its effective management systems, which have resulted in an excellent health and safety record.
Ian Bradley, health and safety advisor at the college, said: "We have implemented a range of health and safety management systems based on Government guidelines.
"Accident statistics have fallen year on year for the last four years, and we are extremely proud that students, staff and management have all contributed to our excellent record.
"RoSPA has recognised our efforts and we have progressed from a merit award to our third successive gold award."
The college provides health and safety awareness training, while all students take a health and safety module.
Other measures include making the college's health and safety management systems available in a manual or via the college's website.
