A YOUNG football team has won a fair play trophy during a school tournament.
Despite the fact that Heathfield School won the Darlington Primary Schools Football Tournament, Raventhorpe Preparatory School players took home their own award.
Throughout the tournament, organised by Darlington Borough Council and the Master Skills Sporting Academy, officials were asked to vote for the team which showed the most sportsmanship and team spirit.
Raventhorpe came out on top and was presented with the Fair Play Trophy after the final whistle of the tournament, which was held last month at Longfield School.
Headteacher Doreen Procter said: "We were delighted that, although the team did not win the competition, they were recognised as having a good rapport with the other schools.
