FUNDRAISERS are taking a well-earned break after organising and preparing a two-course lunch for 150 people.
The Thirsk Committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research raised more than £3,500 at the event at the town's racecourse.
The annual luncheon was held in the Gunthorpe Room and guests were treated to homemade food, prepared by the fundraising committee.
Chairman Flo Sowerby said: "The afternoon was an enormous success, everybody enjoyed the luncheon and it was a great social occasion.
"Although a lot of hard work and effort went into organising the event, we raised over £3,500 to help Yorkshire Cancer Research to continue its vital research into the cause and cure of cancer, which is the biggest reward."
Yorkshire Cancer Research's success is achieved through a network of more than 50 voluntary committees throughout the region.
Money is also raised through personal donations, gift aid, employees' donations from earnings, donations in-memoriam and legacies.
The charity was founded in 1925 and is the largest independent regional, medical research charity in the UK. Operating from its Yorkshire base, it raises about £4m annually in the county.
