A TRUMPET call is being sent out to brass bands to entertain shoppers in Stockton.
The Mayor's Brass Band Festival is to be part of the European In Town Without My Car day on Sunday, September 22.
Stockton Borough Council will fund the competition, which will be recorded by BBC Radio Cleveland from a constructed stage, while visitors to the High Street can expect a glimpse into the past as horse drawn vehicles are used as transport.
Each band that enters will play a 25-minute programme of entertainment that will be judged on entertainment value and deportment with prizes to the top three of £150, £100 and £50. The overall winner will also receive a mayor's trophy.
In addition to the bands there will be a packed of itinerary of street entertainment and a successful day could mean the event becoming an annual festival.
