VOLUNTEERS got to work yesterday to make sure a seaside town looks blooming marvellous once again.
Last year, Saltburn won Northumbria in Bloom's best small town title and residents are hoping to achieve the same feat this summer.
They also hope to scoop Best Seaside Resort for towns with up to 20,000 residents - a new category in the Britain in Bloom competition.
Yesterday, members of the Saltburn in Bloom group began watering the town's floral displays - including 400 hanging baskets and 116 tubs - in time for the regional judges' arrival on July 18 and the national judges, a month later.
Group co-ordinator Jackie Taylor said volunteers had been working hard to raise £18,000 and still needed £7,000.
