GARDENING experts were on hand to give enthusiasts advice about how to keep their gardens looking good.
Members of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) visited Raby Castle, near Staindrop, County Durham, and gave advice to dozens of visitors during an horticultural event.
Founded in 1804, the RHS is Britain's gardening charity and is renowned for its flower shows and gardens.
The society tours the country regularly, holding similar advice sessions and shows.
Rebecca Bowen, head of regional development for the society, said: "We wanted to give people a taster of RHS membership and help them get the most out of their gardening."
The event also included an advice stand set up by the RHS at the castle's garden centre, and visitors were also invited to enter a prize draw, with the chance of winning gardening equipment
