A major conference is being held in Hartlepool today. About 200 delegates from throughout the northern region are expected to come together at Hartlepool Historic Quay for the event, which will focus on how to secure funding for resident-led projects. It is being hosted by Hartlepool Borough Council's neighbourhood services department and a networking body called Regeneration Exchange.
FAIR RESULT: The sixth annual summer fair was held in the parish of St Therese of Lisieux, Ingleby Barwick, at the weekend. Attractions included displays by the cadets, TA, police, fire brigade and St John Ambulance, as well as a bouncy castle, face painting and fancy dress. All proceeds of the event went to the parish building fund.
BEACH FUN: A beach volleyball competition was held at Redcar on Sunday, between Leo's pub and the Regent Cinema, both from the town. There were competitions for under-12, under-13, under 14 and under-15 boys and girls, with mixed competitions for under-11, under-16 and under-17s. All players received a T-shirt.
ART EXHIBITION: Three local artists will display their work at a free exhibition entitled Points of View at Stokesley Town Hall between June 28 and July 5. Paintings and sculptures by Tony Cox, of Guisborough, Margaret Sanderson, from Hartlepool, and Sheila Heggs, from Great Ayton, can be viewed each day from 10am to 4pm, apart from Wednesday (12.30pm to 4pm) and Sunday (closed).
STALLS AVAILABLE: Places are available for trade and craft stall holders at an event to mark a school's closure. The family fun day at St Anthony's Comprehensive School, in Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough, takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Anyone interested in having a stall or car boot can call Malcolm Graham on 07958 743312. The school closes next month after 45 years.
Fire show: Visitors to the seaside have a treat in store this weekend when firefighters at the Saltburn Fire Station open their doors to the public. Fire officers at the Leven Street station will be displaying their skills from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.
New houses: Shepherd Homes have applied to Hartlepool Borough Council for planning permission to build 48 houses with integral garages, on land off Hart Lane, in the town.
