AN elderly student has decided to put his artistic flair to good use by selling copies of his paintings to a fund a nursing home party.
John Grantham, 88, is selling prints of his watercolour paintings of Durham Cathedral to help pay for the event at The Fields, in High Etherley, Bishop Auckland.
A draughtsman by trade, Mr Grantham began studying art at Bishop Auckland College at the age of 65.
Mr Grantham, who has been a resident of The Fields for a year, said: "I have sold a few paintings to staff and friends at the college and more and more people have shown an interest.
"I have already raised £40 so hopefully that party will be happening soon".
